LONDON CENTRE FOR MINDFULNESS

About the Centre

THE LONDON CENTRE FOR MINDFULNESS (LCfM) oversees the delivery of Mindfulness for Stress Reduction courses, based on the methods of Jon Kabat Zinn, according to the stringent standards set by the University of Bangor.

The course has been scientifically tested and approved, and has produced positive results in helping people cope with stress and mild depression using mindfulness practices. Courses are 8 weeks long with both morning and evening options. Drop in classes are run for course graduates to provide on-going support.

What is the London Centre for Mindfulness?

The London Centre for Mindfulness (LCfM) was founded by a group of like-minded long term meditators with a desire to help spread the benefits of meditation to the wider community. Most of the founders have a long relationship with Jamyang Buddhist Centre. However it is the intention of LCfM to offer mindfulness courses in a non-religious framework.
To this end the LCfM is not part of Jamyang Buddhist Centre but of a related charity – the Courthouse Community Centre (CCC) which for many years has been successfully organising community projects, such as a popular respite service for local carers.

The LCfM is currently offering 8 week Mindfulness for Stress Reduction courses on and off site. It also offers taster sessions and meditation sessions in the workplace, schools and local sheltered accommodation. The aim is to enable many more to experience the benefits of the programme from all sections of the community.

Mindfulness for Stress Reduction at the London Centre for Mindfulness

We aim to provide the highest standards of delivery and after care for all our course participants. The  courses follow the strict guidelines set out by Jon Kabat Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical centre and also Bangor University where many of our course facilitators have undergone training. Monitoring of effectiveness and performance is on-going through outside professional agencies and we offer regular evening drop-in classes for course graduates as well as full practice days to support and encourage continuity of practice.

Since its inception, over 500 people have graduated from the Mindfulness for Stress Reduction courses run through the London Centre for Mindfulness.
